sclerotherapy

Sclerosing agents have been used to treat unwanted blood vessels – especially telangiectasias, venulectasias and reticular veins – for several decades.  It’s a common cosmetic procedure, but nevertheless requires experience, skill and knowledge of the vascular system.  Sclerotherapy is also useful in treating small- to medium-sized varicose veins. Dr. Kishan performs sclerotherapy with a variety of FDA-approved agents that effectively shut the affected veins and stop the flow of blood.

Sclerotherapy requires multiple sessions, and one to three injections are usually required to effectively treat any vein.  Anywhere from 10 to 40 veins may be treated in one session, and there is usually a resting period of four to six weeks between treatments of the same veins to allow for healing.  When spider veins are reticulated, injection into one site may fade the entire network.
